It's almost time! Juried Show opening info and winners

Hey all,

It's been quite a while since we posted, and as you might imagine, that has everything to do with the Juried Show. Though truly a labor of love, it is indeed, quite laborious. What with having to do such inconvenient things such as go to work, we have spent a whole lot of free time planning this thing.

On that note however, I do want to say that there are three people that we never could have done this without, and they are our jurors: Anita Kunz, Greg Swearingen and Josh George. They were so incredibly helpful and fast to boot. I also have a feeling that they may have helped us attract entrants.... Also in that camp are Elizabeth and Libby Meggs, daughter and wife of the late Phillip B. Meggs and our jurors for the Phillip B. Meggs award for excellence in design.

The hardest process for the jurors was choosing the winners, but they narrowed it down to some pieces that completely floor us.

Gold - Barry Bruner (again!?)

Silver - Brooke Olivares

Bronze - Neal Iwan

Phillip B. Meggs award for excellence in Design - Thea Duskin

Congratulations to all of our award winners!

Official Press Release

Richmond Illustrators Club Second Annual Juried Show - Press release

The deadline to submit entries to this year's juried show is Saturday, April 5th.

We have fantastic jurors this year - Anita Kunz, Greg Swearingen and Josh George - who run the gamut from conceptual editorial to children's book to gallery work.

The show opens June 6th at Ghostprint gallery, at the heart of the Broad Street First Fridays art walk and provides an excellent opportunity to expose your work to art buyers, art directors, gallery owners and other creative professionals.

Last year's show was a great success and helped several members get gallery representation as well as other opportunities.

Entry fees start at $20 for the first piece and $5 for each subsequent piece.

Go to http://richmondillustratorsclub.blogspot.com/2008/01/call-for-entries.html to see the call for entries or http://www.stevenwalkerstudios.com/ric08entryform.pdf to download the pdf entry form.
Also, visit our blog at http://richmondillustratorsclub.blogspot.com to read club news, for membership information, to find links to members work and see last years winners.

Members Show

We also have a members show coming up the first Friday of April (the 4th) at the Richmond Public Library.
This is always a nice low-key show and we just wanted to put out the reminder (hey members, have your work there by April 2.... or else!).

Entry Form update and Mash Up video

So, thanks to Steven, we now have the entry form hosted as a PDF, so link will take you directly to a printable PDF, not a um... low res jpeg. Yes!

In other news we have a less-awkward-than-anticipated video interview with Holly and I on the Richmond Times Dispatch site (InRich.com). It's fairly brief, but has some info about the club and the show/call for entries and hey, you can't argue with free promotion. Thanks dudes!
